Festival
Registan, Samarkand, Uzbekistan
The UNESCO-listed music festival on the Registan. Once every two years the most famous square in Central Asia becomes a stage.
01 — What it is about
Sharq Taronalari — „Melodies of the East“ — takes place on the Registan in Samarkand, between the three madrasas. The festival is held on the lists of UNESCO and brings together ensembles from Central Asia, the Middle East, the Caucasus, North Africa and Europe.
My role in this cosmos is that of a bridge builder: I know the European venues and I know the musicians of the region. Anyone who wants to travel from here to there — or from there to here — needs someone who understands both sides, not just both languages.
For international festival collaborations, delegations and artist placement between Europe and Central Asia, I am the right person to talk to.
