For 45 years I have been bringing music from the Maghreb, the Middle East and Central Asia onto German stages — for venues, festivals and cultural institutes.

Nouris Radyoun
The voice that stayed.
When RBB Radio Multikulti was shut down in 2008, the show was gone — the music was not. Nouris Radyoun has been running ever since: Arabic and Latin American sounds, chosen by someone who knows the records and where they come from. The same selection stands behind every DJ set I play.

- Who is Noureddine Ben Redjeb?
- Noureddine Ben Redjeb is a curator, cultural manager and presenter based in Berlin. He was born in Tunisia in 1954 and has lived in Berlin since 1975. From 1988 to 2020 he was a concert, dance and theatre promoter at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, where he founded and ran the series Café Global from 1990. Until the station was shut down in 2008 he presented at RBB Radio Multikulti, among others the shows «Backstage» and «à la Carte». Today he works as an independent curator under the name It's a Nouri.

- It's a Nouri is the cultural office of Noureddine Ben Redjeb in Berlin. Ten formats can be booked across four areas: curating programmes, producing festivals, conferences and hosting, and radio and DJ work. The base is Berlin, the working radius is international.
- What is Café Global?
- Café Global is a concert series at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin that Noureddine Ben Redjeb founded and ran from 1990. Instead of concert seating there were tables, drinks and music from countries the Berlin audience mostly knew only from the news — with the chance to talk to the musicians afterwards. The series is the format his later work grew out of.

- Nouris Radyoun is Noureddine Ben Redjeb's own radio show with Arabic and Latin American sounds. It carries on what ended in 2008 when RBB Radio Multikulti was shut down. The same record selection stands behind every DJ set he plays.

- The arc between the Maghreb, the Mashreq, Central Asia and Latin America: chaabi, malouf, raï, gnawa, maqam and oud, shashmaqam from Samarkand and Bukhara as well as son cubano, salsa and cumbia. «World music» is a shelf label here, not a description — origin is treated as context, not as a genre.
